Tour Itinerary & Description
Transfer from your hotel in Aswan and boarding on your dahabieh.
Lunch on board and start sailing to Kom Ombo.
You will enjoy an afternoon of relaxation along the water while appreciating the landscape of the banks of the Nile which passes slowly in a bewitching softness.
At the end of the afternoon, we will stop in kom ombo, we will visit the magnificent Greco-Roman temple of kom ombo. It was built in honor of the gods; Sobek with the head of a crocodile and Horus with the head of a falcon. This temple dominates a majestic bend of the Nile by about twenty meters.
Return on board and short sail to Gebel Silssila.
Dinner and overnight on board.
Breakfast on board, then departure on foot to discover the Gebel el Silsila and its quarry, the most monumental sandstone quarry of the Pharaonic era. You will discover the many inscriptions, stelae and decorated tombs, visit the small rock temple of Horemheb, pharaoh of the end of the 18th pharaonic dynasty.
Return on board and resume sailing to the island of the village of Bassaw.
Docking in Bassaw and walking. It is a beautiful walk on this island, around the marsh, among the crops and fruit trees: mango, banana, lemon trees... You will meet great people to learn a little more about the traditions of the inhabitants of Bassaw.
Resumption of navigation to Edfu and lunch on board.
Docking in Edfu and departure by horse-drawn carriage to visit the Sanctuary of Edfu: It is the most important temple of the time of the Ptolemies and the best preserved. Dedicated to the god Horus. Its gigantic facades are covered with gigantic hieroglyphics and dazzling friezes that date back to the 2nd Dynasty BC.
Dinner and overnight on board.
Breakfast on board and resumption of sailing to Elkab.
Departure on foot to visit the historical site of Elkab:
It contains the remains of the political and religious capital of Upper Egypt in the 4th millennium BC,
a necropolis of many tombs dating from the beginning of the New Kingdom that still remain in a good state of preservation.
Lunch on board and resumption of navigation to El Hegz
Diner and overnight on board.
Breakfast on board and sailing to Esna.
End of cruise and transfer by private vehicle to Luxor, about 50 km to the north.
